Frank W. Springstead High School is a public Hernando County high school in Spring Hill, Florida. The school opened on December 1, 1975, [ 3 ] and had its first graduation class in 1979. [ 4 ] In 2014, Springstead High School was ranked as #929 which was based on their Advanced Placement test scores, graduation rate, and SAT and ACT scores. [ 1 ]
The land was purchased for a total of $499.00. A frame structure was completed and on February 4, 1889, Hernando High School opened. At its inception the Hernando High School staff consisted of Principal E. R. Warrener and 3 teachers. Hardy Croom and Alda Burns Wright were notable members of the inaugural class of 1889.
