The Sugarloaf Explorer is a free public transportation system that services the resort. It features eight bus routes linking residential neighborhoods, condominiums, inns, and hotels in Carrabassett Valley with the Sugarloaf Base Lodge, the Outdoor Center, and local shops and restaurants. [20]
Sugarloaf Parkway is an at-grade and limited-access highway in Gwinnett County in the north-central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. The highway provides a cross-county route from Duluth to Dacula .
The two routes enter Carrabassett Valley, where they pass Sugarloaf Mountain. The routes then enter Stratton, where SR 16 forks to the west towards Rangeley, leaving SR 27 to head north to Eustis. The highway curves to the northeast to Coburn Gore where it crosses the border into Quebec, continuing as Quebec Route 161.
In town, it intersects US 78/SR 10 and then, the Ronald Reagan Parkway; the Eastside Medical Center, Snellville's largest employer, is located on this portion of the route. The southeast side of Sugarloaf drains into Rapid Stream, then into the West Branch of the Carrabassett River. The Appalachian Trail (AT), a 2,170 mi (3,490 km) National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, passes within a mile of the summit, skirting the peak to the west, and the summit is reached by a 0.6 mi (0.97 km) side trail.
Formerly the flex-route Brunswick Explorer, the service was relaunched in 2021 as a fixed-route version. The service is run by Western Maine Transportation Services (WMTS) and has 27 stops. The route begins hourly from Brunswick's Amtrak station and connects to the BlueLine Commuter service and the Metro BREEZ express bus to and from Portland. [22]
