The Water and Rivers Commission is a defunct agency of the Government of Western Australia. [1] Established on 1 January 1996, it was set up under the Water and Rivers Commission Act 1995 , to administer the Act and other legislation relevant to development and conservation of Western Australia 's water resources.

The State Rivers and Water Supply Commission was created in 1905 by the Water Act 1905 to coordinate and manage the State's rural water resources and eventually to take over all Victorian rural water trusts and irrigation schemes. The Commission was replaced in 1984 by the Rural Water Commission. [3]
A number of bird species also inhabit the park like the Mindoro imperial pigeon, Mindoro scops owl, black-hooded coucal, scarlet-collared flowerpecker, Mindoro hornbill, Mindoro racket tail, Mindoro boobok, Mindoro bulbul, and Mindoro bleeding heart pigeon. The park harbors at least 25 species of threatened floras.

The river commences just south of Arrino and north-west of Three Springs near the Midlands Road and flows in a westerly direction for a length of 85 kilometres (53 mi) to the coast and terminates in Arrowsmith Lake, 9 kilometres (6 mi) inland from Cliff Head. The river drops a total of 219 metres (719 ft) in elevation over the course of its length.
