Ernst Ingmar Bergman [a] (14 July 1918 – 30 July 2007) was a Swedish film and theatre director and screenwriter. Between 1944 and 2003 he directed 48 feature-length films (44 narrative films and 4 documentaries) as well as many short films. He also served as writer and producer for many other films.
