    Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried to repair Powerpoint 2010 even to reinstall the entire software. But it seems like the problem stays unsolved. I should have made my description clearer. The problem is when I insert audio file to a powerpoint ,the powerpoint turns unable to respond.

    The problem seems to go away when Aero is disabled. Right click on the PowerPoint shortcut, click properties, and then under the compatibility tab check off "Disable Desktop Composition". It worked for me. qwerty15 - this is a big help, thanks very much!
