[1] Following the completion of the 2023 review of Westminster constituencies , it was first contested at the 2024 general election , since when it has been held by Seamus Logan of the Scottish National Party .

Rattray Head (listen ⓘ), [1] historically Rattray Point, is a headland in Buchan, Aberdeenshire, on the north-east coast Scotland. To north lies Strathbeg Bay and Rattray Bay is to its south. The dunes at Rattray Head beach can be up to 75 feet (23 m) high and stretch 17 miles (27 km) from St Combs to Peterhead. [2] [3]

The constituency covers parts of both Aberdeenshire and Moray. It is one of the five constituencies covering Aberdeenshire in the Scottish Parliament, alongside Aberdeenshire East, Aberdeenshire West, Aberdeen South and North Kincardine and Angus North and Mearns. The rest of Moray is represented by the Moray constituency.

Peterhead was, and remains, an important fishing port, and the breakwater gave it an advantage over other fishing ports. The north breakwater, constructed between 1912 and 1956, [16] is approximately 1,500 ft (460 m) long. [17] Peterhead was a Jacobite-supporting town in the Jacobite risings of 1715 and 1745.
