Full 9' basement in addition and under the porch so this will net me a finished interior dimension of around 7'x8' for a walk-in gun safe/vault. 8" poured concrete walls with a concrete roof. Plan is to buy a Sturdy Safe vault door with fire insulation added to door. Questions: 1. I'm considering pouring the vault room floor 4-6" higher than ...

My submission. Our house has a suspended 3-car garage. This is the room underneath. It's my workshop, gun room, reloading room, preps storage room, air rifle range (haven't done that in a long time though) and tornado shelter. The door is currently a solid core wood door with 3/4" plywood attached, with a single deadbolt and locking knob.

Looks like you have the skills to make your own cabinets if you built the bench yourself. I use furniture grade 3/4" plywood for the box and shelves with 3/32" ply backing. 1/2" ply for the doors. Akro bins are good. Just bought some blue colored from Amazon - 24pc 7x4x3" - $25. Hard to beat at only $1/ea.
There are some decent sub$50 electronic ear muffs out there, now. Not great but a good entry level for somebody who hasn’t tried them yet. IF they are hunters, hand-warmers are always appreciated in the Fall/Winter. I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy Glock and thy AR15, they comfort me.
I have not done the gun room yet, but my reloading area will be hard surface to make cleaning spilt powder and dropped primers easier. Posted: 3/15/2016 11:40:40 AM EDT [#2]
