Football Park, known commercially as AAMI Stadium, was an Australian rules football stadium located in West Lakes, a western suburb of Adelaide, the state capital of South Australia, Australia. It was built in 1973 by the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and opened in 1974.

The 2024 South Australian National Football League season (officially the SANFL Hostplus League) is the 145th season of the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), the highest-level Australian rules football competition in South Australia. The season began on 28 March 2024.
The SANFL owned Football Park, formerly the largest stadium in South Australia. The stadium, which opened in 1974, was primarily used for Australian Football League matches up until 2013 and had a capacity of over 51,000 prior to being demolished. The stadium was the headquarters for the league from 1974 to 2013.
The other nine SANFL clubs reacted strongly and entered into litigation in an endeavour to halt Port's bid. As the terms offered were more favourable than previously offered, talks were resumed. On 19 September 1990, the AFL approved the bid for a new South Australian club to enter the league, rather than a single existing SANFL club. [2]

The stadium was referred to as Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, Swan Street Stadium or the Bubble Dome [8] [9] during its early construction. The stadium's commercial name was announced as AAMI Park on 16 March 2010; initially an eight-year deal, it has been twice extended with the current AAMI sponsorship deal set to expire in 2026. [10]
