Adventure of the Seas is a Voyager-class cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean International.The vessel was launched and entered service in 2001. Registered in the Bahamas, Adventure of the Seas has cruised from ports in the United States and Europe to sites in the Caribbean Sea, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Canada and Europe.
Cruise ships started to exceed ocean liners in size and capacity in the mid-1990s; [2] before then, few were more than 50,000 GT. [3] In the decades since the size of the largest vessels has more than doubled. [4] There have been nine or more new cruise ships added every year since 2001, most of which are 100,000 GT or greater. [5]
There are two generations of Voyager-class ship which feature slight differences in design. The first generation ships, Voyager of the Seas, Explorer of the Seas and Adventure of the Seas, were launched between 1999 and 2001. The second generation ships Navigator of the Seas and Mariner of the Seas were launched in 2002 and 2003 respectively. [2]

Unlike other Royal Caribbean classes, the Vision class is not named for the first ship built; Vision of the Seas was the last ship in the class to be built.
