Pachmarhi is a hill station in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh state of central India. It has been the location of a cantonment (Pachmarhi Cantonment) since the British Raj. [2] The municipality is located in a valley of the Satpura Range and is widely known as Satpura ki Rani. ("Queen of Satpura") Pachmarhi has an altitude of 1067.
The Pachmarhi Biosphere Reserve is located within areas of Narmadapuram, Betul, and Chhindwara Districts in Madhya Pradesh. [2] The biosphere reserve's total area is 4,926.28 square kilometres (1,217,310 acres). It includes three wildlife conservation units: [3] Bori Sanctuary (518.00 km 2) Pachmarhi Sanctuary (461.37 km 2).

With India getting Independence in 1947, the Army School of Education, India, was raised as Army School of Education, Pachmarhi. Army Educational Corps Records office was established in the same year as part of the school. The school was again redesignated as AEC Centre and School, Pachmarhi in 1949.
Pachmarhi used to be the summer capital of Madhya Pradesh. In 1967 it served as the summer capital for the last time. Having obtained the status of the summer capital, Pachmarhi has bungalows for the Chief Minister and other ministers too. As a logical extension, it also has a Raj Bhavan for the stay of the Governor.

The Pachmarhi Telescope Array or Pachmarhi Array of Cerenkov Telescopes (PACT) is an array of 24 telescopes for gamma-ray astronomy. It is located at Pachmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, India. It is operated by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research .
