The next day, Izuku is aided by the Big Three's Mirio Togata in applying for the agency of Sir Nighteye, a former sidekick of All Might's who is investigating Overhaul. Despite his reservations of Deku while revealing his "Foresight" Quirk showed him a vision of All Might's death, Sir Nighteye allows him to join his agency.
Izuku is first seen in My Hero Academia as a 4-year-old boy about to be beaten up by three other classmates, one of them being Katsuki "Kacchan" Bakugo, who has the ability to create explosions. Izuku was born without any unique superpower, or "Quirk", to call his own unlike his parents and 80% of the world's population.
Nighteye orders Izuku to take Mirio and Eri to safety while he holds off Overhaul, but is gravely wounded, and his Foresight shows him Izuku being killed and Overhaul escaping with Eri. Izuku tries to jump out in a harm's way but is injured by Overhaul's spikes attack. Despite this, Izuku refuses to give up on saving Eri.

Izuku discovers that All Might's true form is that of a frail, emaciated man who suffered a massive respiratory injury 5 years ago, preventing him from using his powers for longer than 3 hours a day. All Might tells Izuku that he should give up on being a hero and focus on a more realistic dream.
