Members wore their hair naturally, which was considered taboo in the 1950s, and represented a range of body sizes and skin colors.
Williams retired from modeling in 1970, but continued her career in fashion as a stylist. Helen also took up drawing and painting in her early model years which she continued long after her retirement. Beverly Ann Johnson [1] [3] (born October 13, 1952) [4] is an American model, actress, singer, and businesswoman. Johnson rose to fame when she became the first Black model to appear on the cover of American Vogue in August 1974, after Donyale Luna was the first Black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue in 1966.
