The Buffalo News was founded as a Sunday paper with the name The Buffalo Sunday Morning News in 1873 by Edward Hubert Butler, Sr.. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] On October 11, 1880, [ 7 ] it began publishing daily editions as well, and in 1914, it became an inversion of its original existence by publishing Monday to Saturday, with no publication on Sunday.

This newspaper was founded in 1879 by Adam Lorenzo Rinewalt. [3] While Rinewalt was in later life deeply engaged in Republican politics, it was initially founded as an independent, nonpartisan paper. [4] The paper quickly became the leading journal in the county, [5] and by 1880, the paper had moved to larger facilities. [6]
Tom Jolls (August 6, 1933 – June 7, 2023) was an American television personality best known for his 34-year tenure at WKBW-TV in Buffalo, New York.At WKBW, Jolls hosted "The Weather Outside" segments during Eyewitness News, performed many of the station's voiceovers, and served as host of the children's television show, the Commander Tom Show.
In 1925, he entered the Preparatory Seminary in the Diocese of Buffalo and was a member of its first graduation class.
