I'm a big fan of Nylund's books (of which Ghosts is my favorite). They're the peak of the Halo EU. I'd say I rank Nylund's books: Ghosts of Onyx Fall of Reach First Strike And then I'd say Troy Denning's stuff is my second favorite. Generally very good books all around. 4. Last Light 5. Shadows of Reach 6. Silent Storm 7. Divine Wind 8. Oblivion 9.
It just adds a little detail here and there. If you're trying to start from the beginning, I'd say starting with The Fall of Reach is a good choice. The other books prior to The Fall of Reach goes back hundreds and thousands of years into forerunner era, which in my opinion can wait until you at least get to books that take place around HALO 4.
Her Star Wars books is the same as her Halo books, glorifying her chosen favored faction over all else, and rewriting in-universe history to do so. Mandalorians got fun sure, but they got it at the expense of a lot of others in Star Wars.

The Eric Nylund Trilogy: The Fall of Reach, (Halo:CE goes here) First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx (you've already read these) The Forerunner Trilogy by Greg Bear: Cryptum, Primordium, and Silentium (if you listen to the audiobooks, or read the hardcovers, make sure to listen to this after Silentium)

Humanity is at war with an alien race called the Covenant and they are hell-bent on the destruction of the human race and any other species that gets in their way.
Welcome! Welcome to the literature section of the /r/halo wiki. This page will outline all of the current Halo novels, comics, visual guides, etc.
I love halo, everything about it is fantastic imo, the books, comics and games are masterpieces all imo. Bearing that in mind, this list is for those of you who wants to go through the entire halo universe chronologically, most of the novels are connected in one major story arc which the games expands upon, but there are some self contained ...
All books specifically made for Forerunners are part of the Forerunner trilogy - Cryptum, Primordium, Silentium. There is also a hodge podge of short stories pertaining to all matter of events across the Halo timeline called Halo: Evolutions. In it you will find horror stories, action/adventure stories, ect...
Halo Wars and Halo Wars Genesis released at the same time, just the date depends on the region, because Genesis was bundled for the Limited Edition of the game. Fun fact, Halo Wars Genesis was put up on Waypoint on 12/19/2016 given how the original was only in the Limited Edition:
