South Dakota Highway 50 (SD 50) is a state route serving south central and southeast South Dakota. The current alignment begins at the junction of South Dakota Highway 34 at "Lee's Corner" east of Fort Thompson, and ends at the Iowa border near Richland, where it continues as Iowa Highway 3. It is about 212 miles (341 km) in length.

The road continues north and runs concurrently with US 14 and Interstate 90 westbound toward Sturgis. Leaving Sturgis, SD 79 leads to Bear Butte State Park and briefly runs concurrently with U.S. Route 212 south of Newell. Near North Dakota, the highway passes through the South Dakota portion of Custer National Forest.

Parts of the byway enter Black Hills National Forest , Custer State Park , and the Mount Rushmore National Memorial ; the byway also travels within five miles (eight point zero kilometres) of the Crazy Horse Memorial .
South Dakota Highway 101 begins at a junction with South Dakota Highway 22 in Herrick Township. The road travels north paralleling the Minnesota state line, entering the town of Gary, South Dakota as Herrick Street.
