Bogus' base area and main day lodge (J. R. Simplot Lodge, formerly Bogus Creek) are at 6,150 ft (1,875 m), at the base of the north-facing slopes served by the Deer Point Express (#1), a high-speed quad installed in the summer of 1996. The original double chairlift on #1 was installed in 1959 and upgraded in 1981.
In June 2009, the resort announced that it was reopening its 18-hole golf course (2006) and zip lines (2007) through a partnership with an operating company; the golf course reopened in late July and the zip line a few days later. [13] Since 2008, Bank of America threatened to remove two chairlifts that the resort had fallen behind in payments on.
The resort's golf course was redesigned in the late 1970s by Robert Trent Jones Jr. In 1977, the Warm Springs side boasted 100 acres (0.40 km 2) of snowmaking up to an elevation of 8,200 feet (2,500 m), thought to be the highest anywhere at the time. [30] During the late 1980s and early 1990s, snowmaking was significantly expanded on Bald Mountain.
The resort's golf course is best known for its floating green on the 14th hole, [24] [25] [26] [31] and location on the north shore of the lake. [ 32 ] [ 33 ] The 2,300-ton floating green was installed in September 1990 and unveiled by Hagadone and Governor Cecil Andrus shortly after; [ 34 ] the course opened the following spring.
