But I need the features of the old Kindle PC application. The books appear to download after a fresh PC Restart. That is, they are counted in the list of Downloaded books. However, the books reported as downloaded cannot be opened. It took an hour with Amazon support to get to this point. But I cannot access and Kindle books from my Windows 10 PCs.
Original title: Kindle app problem . I had an update for Kindle fail. I thought I would uninstall the Kindle app and then reinstall. When I tried to reinstall the store indicated that the app was installed so I could not reinstall. I am still getting an indication that the app needs to be updated.
I just downloaded the Kindle for PC app and am reading a book. When I try to select a few words to highlight, the text moves. I can highlight one word at a time, but not more. I'm sure there is a way to do this, but I haven't been able to do it. (I can do it on my Kindle Cloud reader, but this book won't open in KCR.)

What seems to have worked was to uninstall Kindle for PC and then reinstall not the latest version but an older version. After a restart, Kindle for PC should not be running, so restart your computer and then uninstall Kindle for PC. After uninstalling Kindle for PC, click start, type the following in the Search box, and press Enter
Does anyone know if there is an amazon Kindle App designed to run on Microsoft Surface Book? I know one that is designed for windsows 8 but it appears that there is not one for windows 10 that runs on Surface Book. Thanks. Harry
Kindle doesn't have an app via Microsoft store, which is entirely their decision not to publish in Microsoft store, however, they do have its own standalone app you can download directly from Amazon, and it is for PC.
I am wanting to download the Kindle app from the Microsoft Store. When I go to the page where you download it, it says it's already on my device. I looked in my Windows menu and it's not there. The Store won't let me install it. What do I do? Windows 10 (latest version).
However, even though my Kindle is still charging when connected via USB, it does not seem to be communicating with the computer. I tried doing the same thing on a Windows 10 computer, and it worked smoothly. It seems that after updating to Windows 11, the USB port only charges the Kindle but doesn't recognize it as a connected device.
With regard to the first problem a recent posting of mine produced a response from a Community member who had downloaded a Kindle for PC app which worked perfectly well on Windows 10. When I followed up my enquiry with Kindle Support the latest advice I received from them was to was to deregister, uninstall, and reinstall Kindle for PC.
