My toes were absolutely frozen by the end of the day. Although these boots were not insulated so I don't know about steel toed boots that are insulated.

If you are going to be a cold weather environment, your feet will freeze. The insulation in these boots is terrible.

However in the past decade, I have shifted from rubber to Irish Setter cordura insulated (400/800gr) lace-up or BOA boots and then using Boot Blanket covers on stand.

    The Ultralights are awesome boots right out of the box easily the most comfortable boot I've worn. They work great from farm country to the Catskill Mountains, soft leather makes them so comfortable but they take abuse a little quicker. The 800's a fairly warm seem to be a little light in the toe box on insulation.

    joehunter8301. if your hunting in 30 below you will need 2,000 grams plus many layers of socks. i guided in about 0 degrees and had 1,200 grams with 4 layers of socks and was chilly when i wasnt moving. for average september oct weather 400-600 should be adequate.
