Dundee University RFC is a rugby union club based in Dundee, Scotland. The club operates a men's team [ 1 ] and a women's team. [ 2 ] Both currently play in the university leagues.
The team was founded in 1880 by former pupils of the High School of Dundee. The men's side played in Scottish National League Division One; the women's side, known as the Dundee Valkyries, played in the Scottish Womens Midlands & East One until 2021 when the club bought Morgan Rugby Club to form "Dundee Rugby Club".
The club was founded in 2001 [1] and was in student developmental leagues before it joined the regional league structure of the Scottish Rugby Union in 2013. [2]It is not affiliated to Dundee University but does share resources and some players with Dundee University RFC.
Edinburgh University WRFC play in the Premier Division of the SWRU League. They participate in the BUSA Premier North league, whilst their 2nd XV plays in the SUSA League. Dundee University WRFC, Glasgow University WRFC and The Saints WRFC (St Andrews University) play in the First Division of the SWRU League.
Morgan Academy RFC was an amateur rugby union team based in Dundee, Scotland. They competed in the Caledonia Midlands Three league until 2021 when Dundee HSFP and Morgan Academy RFC merged to create Dundee Rugby Club. [1]

The Stobswell club merged with Dundee NCR at the start of the 1970s. [2] The club won the Midlands District League in 1976 and was promoted to the National League Division 7. They were promoted to National League Division 6 for 1981-82 and played there until 1985–86, after which they were relegated back to Division 7.
The games attracted 67,247 and 62,140 which to date (June 2024) are the largest rugby league attendances in Scotland. In 2007, the Scottish Conference was incorporated into the Rugby League Conference as the "RLC Scottish Premier" as part of an RFL attempt to formalise amateur rugby league across Great Britain which began in 1997.
