Nichols School was founded in 1892 by William Nichols. The school was founded as an all-boys school with its campus on Amherst Street in North Buffalo. After many years of remaining an all boys school, it joined with Nottingham Academy, an all-girls school, becoming a co-ed Middle and Upper School.

Dwight Edward Nichols (October 21, 1934 – February 2, 2009) was an American football player. Nichols attended Iowa State University and played college football at the halfback position for the Iowa State Cyclones football team from 1957 to 1959.
Nichols High School is a historic high school located at Nichols in Tioga County, New York. It is a Tudor Revival style, three-story, rectangular brick structure with limestone trim built in 1911–1912. The hipped roof is topped with a belfry that retains the original school bell. The building was last used as a school in 1958. [2]

In 1836, they both went to Buffalo, being among the first lawyers in that city. Nichols completed his legal studies, was admitted to the bar and became Clinton's partner. Though a staunch Democrat, he was not active in politics until 1867, when he accepted the nomination for state senator and won the election by a large majority.
