Central Michigan University (CMU) is a public research university in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, United States. It was established in 1892 as a private normal school and became a state institution in 1895.
The stadium was originally named Perry Shorts Stadium in honor of R. Perry Shorts, a Saginaw banker who was a 1900 graduate and a generous donor. The stadium, which originally seated approximately 20,000 spectators, was dedicated on November 4, 1972, when the Chippewas defeated Illinois State University, 28–21, before a Homecoming crowd of nearly 17,000. The Clarke Historical Library is part of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, United States. It is located within the Charles V. Park Library on the campus. The library was founded in 1954 by Norman E. Clarke Sr., [1] who gave his library and collections to the college, which he had attended as a young man.

Central Michigan University was founded in 1892, and from 1893 until 1925 the library was housed in “Old Main,” which was the first building constructed on campus. By the 1920s, the library's collection had outgrown the space available in Old Main and plans for a new library building were drafted.
