The Faculty of Arts at the University of Prishtina has a relatively young history, but its roots trace back to the late 1950s. Thus, sections dedicated to Fine Arts, Music, and Dramatic Arts existed within the Higher Pedagogical School of Prishtina (Shkolla e Lartë Pedagogjike) from 1958 until the late 1980s.

The entrance of the University of Pristina Faculty of Arts. The Faculty was founded in Pristina in 1973 as the Academy of Arts and got the present name in 1986. During the Kosovo War of 1999 it was moved, first to Varvarin and later to Zvečan and Kosovska Mitrovica, where it is now.
