Drag Safari would lead to the 1955 US Nationals for drag racing. [2] Due to the coronavirus pandemic in the United States, the NHRA cancelled its 2020 and 2021 editions of the Drag Racing Series at the Virginia Motorsports Park. Regular scheduling resumed in 2022, with the events taking place in May of that year. [4]
The race tracks were hosting numerous Corvette racing events (the park is only a few miles away from the General Motors factory that produces the sports car), plus the annual NHRA Hot Rod Reunion. The park opened a Zamperla Twisting Wild Mouse coaster, Zamperla Steamboat ride and a drop tower called the Shock Drop for the 2005 season.
The Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge is a collaboration between NHRA and Mission Foods, introduced in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series. Hart became an NHRA drag racer in 2011, racing a variety of sportsman vehicles. After earning his Top Alcohol Dragster license in 2015, Hart won three NHRA National event titles and eight NHRA regional TAD races between 2017 and 2019. Hart won the NHRA Regional Championship in 2017 and is a two-time NHRA U.S. Nationals winner (2018–19).

The 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season was announced on July 10, 2024. [1] It will be the 70th season of the National Hot Rod Association's top drag racing competition. This season will also feature the 60th anniversary of the NHRA Finals. The NHRA will host 20 events this season. Top Fuel and Funny Car will compete at all 20 events.
The 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Season was announced on September 16, 2021. [1] It was the 67th season of the National Hot Rod Association's top drag racing competition. The NHRA will have 22 Top Fuel and Funny Car events, 19 Pro Stock events, and 15 Pro Stock Motorcycle events.
With the closure of the Memphis Motorsports Park as of 30 October 2009, [1] the Full Throttle Series is now slated for 23 events: [2] The Virginia NHRA Nationals has also been eliminated, as Virginia Motorsports Park chose to align with rival Kenneth Feld's International Hot Rod Association instead (many tracks changed sanctioning, owing to their sportsman classes).
