The King Street Garage was a nightclub located at 174 King Street in San Francisco, California, [1] near the present location of AT&T Park. It was directly adjacent to, and physically connected with, the Club Townsend , another famous nightclub on the other side of the block located at 177 Townsend Street.
Michael Brody's imprint on the space began in 1977 with the club opening as 84 King Street Garage. After a year-long renovation, it officially became Paradise Garage on January 28, 1978. [ 17 ] Among the improvements were a sprung dancefloor and custom sound system , developed by Richard Long of Richard Long & Associates (RLA). [ 18 ]

The building of the A500 dual carriageway and Queensway in the 1970s bisected the area, effectively making the Brick Kiln Lane area into part of Basford, and blighting the run-down terraced housing that remained along Garner Street to the east of the A500. 160 residential terraced houses in Garner Street were demolished between 2002 and 2005, since they were deemed to be too near to the A500 road.
A syndicate including people connected with the Wigan and Blackpool tracks successfully applied for planning for a new stadium in October 1927. [1] It was built on a 8.5 acre plot on top of an old pit known as Marl Pit (part of the Shelton Colliery).
