The airline was founded in 1958 by Martin Schröder, and is currently a subsidiary of Air France–KLM. Since 2011, Martinair has operated entirely as a cargo airline with scheduled services to 20 destinations [1] worldwide and additional charter flights. Prior to that date, passenger flights were also operated.
KLM Cargo joined SkyTeam Cargo in September 2004, four months after the merger of Air France and KLM, which subsequently created the Air France-KLM holding company. [6] The following year, in September, Northwest Airlines Cargo joined the cargo alliance, a move which came one year after Northwest Airlines joined SkyTeam.
