A song of the summer is an unofficial designation of a song that is dominant both culturally and commercially between the end of May and the beginning of September in a given year, primarily in the United States. "Summer Wind" is a 1965 song, originally released in Germany as "Der Sommerwind" and written by Heinz Meier and German language lyrics by Hans Bradtke. Johnny Mercer re-wrote the song into English along the same themes as the original, which talked of the changing of the seasons using the Southern European sirocco wind as a metaphor.

"The Summer" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Josh Pyke. It was released in February 2009 as the third and final single from Pyke's second studio album, Chimney's Afire (2008). In the song Pyke weaves stories from childhood memories and idyllic dreams of a life by the sea. [1] It was certified gold in Australia in 2020.
