Lorena W. Weeks (born 1929) was the plaintiff in an important sex discrimination case, Weeks v. Southern Bell (1969). She claimed that Southern Bell had violated her rights under the 1964 Civil Rights Act when they denied her application for promotion to a higher paying position because she was a woman.

The south-eastern part of Iowa Territory became Iowa, the 29th state in the union, on December 28, 1846, [3] by which point 44 counties had been created. Counties continued to be created by the state government until 1857, when the last county, Humboldt County , was created. [ 4 ]
Poweshiek County is a county in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 United States census, the population was 18,662. [1] The county seat is Montezuma. [2] The county is named for the chief of the Fox tribe who signed the treaty ending the Black Hawk War. It lies along Interstate 80 between Des Moines and Iowa City.
