Magnolia champaca, known in English as champak (/ ˈ tʃ ʌ m p ə k /), [3] is a large evergreen tree in the family Magnoliaceae. [4] It was previously classified as Michelia champaca . [ 4 ] [ 5 ] It is known for its fragrant flowers, and its timber used in woodworking.
Two varieties of Magnolia kobus are recognized by some sources, such as Hortus Third, [5] with var. borealis being a tree to 25 m (75 ft) high, with leaves to 15 cm (6 in) long, and var. kobus, a tree to 10 m (30 ft) high, with leaves to 10 cm (4 in) long. Magnolia kobus is classified within Magnolia subgenus Yulania.

Magnolia stellata, the star magnolia, [1] is a slow-growing deciduous shrub or small tree native to Japan. It bears large, showy white or pink flowers in early spring, before its leaves open. This species is closely related to the Kobushi magnolia (Magnolia kobus), and is treated by many botanists as a variety or even a cultivar of that.
So far, this spring has been good for blooming trees and shrubs. One that comes to mind is Saucer Magnolia. This lavender-blooming, multi-stemmed tree is still holding on to blooms in some areas.
Magnolia is a large genus of about 210 to 340 [a] flowering plant species in the subfamily Magnolioideae of the family Magnoliaceae.The natural range of Magnolia species is disjunct, with a main center in east, south and southeast Asia and a secondary center in eastern North America, Central America, the West Indies, and some species in South America.
