Worked up to 500 mg and haven’t lost weight, I’m just bloated. I’m on week 2.5. I started on 1000mg a day and worked up to 2000mg in a two week span. The first 2-3 months were pretty bad, lots of bad stomachs and throwing up, so I didn't eat much. But after that I lost 40 lbs in about 9 months.
Metformin is a weight neutral medication. It won’t cause weight gain nor weight loss on its own. What it does do is make your skeletal muscles more sensitive to the insulin you are producing (reducing insulin resistance). This helps shift the glucose in your blood into your muscle cells where you can use it as energy.
impishmonkey. • 5 yr. ago. I had some good success with metformin extended release, counting calories and exercise. Regular metformin gave me GI problems as well. Tried that Noom app cuz I had a free trial and had really good results but stopped once the trial ended because I couldn't afford their bulk payments. 1.
Agreed. My doctor has advised me against cardio. I've lost weight doing walking heart rate 110-120 and no cardio. Metformin helped me lose a little weight, but not as much as diet modification. Maybe if I had started sooner, but I'm a healthy weight now. Metformin keeps the pounds off for me, but it only shaves off a little bit a week.
I was prescribed Metformin for weight loss (non diabetic) and experienced severe depression within two days of taking it. I had started on 500mgs of it, stopped eating completely with stomach issues - which I would have bared with for the weight loss result. After 14 days on it, the depression was too severe - it felt like a completely ...
January 2014. I take metformin as well, and it did accelerate my weight loss. I was diagnosed diabetic, but now its considered a metabolic disordeer. I also worry about such a low carb intake, as metformin helps keep blood sugars low. My fear is that you will feel really bad, and get discouraged. Your body needs carbs.
I limit sugary foods (not a craving of mine) and do not eat red meat. I avoid corn products as well as GF processed foods that contain a lot of gums. My experience on MJ: Started August 11 w/ 4 doses of 2.5; switched to 5mg on Sept 8, took my second dose of 5 on Sept 15. Paying out of pocket, my ins covers weight loss drugs, so I'm hoping maybe ...
About a week and a half ago my PCP put me on 500 mg metformin, once daily, in hopes that it would help me lose some weight. I cannot take ozempic or any of the similar drugs because I have thyroid cancer - which is part of my recent weight gain. I’m looking for stories of success with metformin in non-diabetics.
I've honestly gotten to a point where I'm ok with my weight, uncomfortable maybe, but I don't hate myself. It's that knowing weight loss could directly improve my creeping A1c, cholesterol, insulin resistance, and help regulate my periods (especially with a family history of these issues) - it becomes a big focus of mine (and others).
Tell me your Metformin Success Stories (positive vibes only please) I just swallowed my first Metformin. I was super against it but my doctor convinced me to give it a try, since I'm hangry all the time on my meal plan and have only lost 42 lbs in 7 months. So I need to hear some positive success stories from people who took it so I don't freak ...
