The 2022 World Figure Skating Championships were held in Montpellier, France, from March 21–27, 2022. [1] Figure skaters competed for the title of world champion in men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance. The competition was used to determine the entry quotas for each federation at the 2023 World Championships.

The 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 18–23, 2022, at the Tondiraba Ice Hall in Tallinn, Estonia. Held annually since 1999 (except for 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic ), the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
Along with the bronze medal Malinin won at the world championships last year, the duo of Madison Chock and Evan Bates won the gold, marking the first U.S. top finish at the world event since 2013.
