The new rear range light was a 64-foot (20 m) tower, the upper half (painted white) of which was part of a tower originally located at the Vidal Shoals near Sault Ste. Marie.
Grand Island National Recreation Area is served during summer months by a tourist ferry and island tour bus. Presque Isle Park is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the coast of Lake Superior.
