The United States Custom House is a historic United States federal government building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Built between 1932 and 1934 to the Art Deco designs of the architectural firm of Ritter & Shay, the building occupies an entire block between Second, Chestnut, and Sansom Streets and the former Exchange Place in the heart of the oldest section of the city.
Oaks Cloister is a historic mansion in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.It was built in 1900 by the architect Joseph Miller Huston (1866-1940). Huston, who was the architect of the Pennsylvania Capitol, built Oaks Cloister as his home and studio.
On March 16, 1959, it incorporated the Old Philadelphia Customs House (Second Bank of the United States), which had been designated a national historic site on May 26, 1939. As with all historic areas administered by the National Park Service, the park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.
The federal Custom House in Philadelphia was located at Carpenters' Hall between 1802 and 1819, except for a brief interruption between January and April, 1811. [13] In 1970, Carpenters' Hall was declared a National Historic Landmark. [14]
The Bergdoll Mansion is a historic house located in the Spring Garden neighborhood of Philadelphia. It was designed by architect James H. Windrim and built in 1886. It is in a Beaux Arts / Italianate style. The mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. [1]
