Bulky waste or bulky refuse is a technical term taken from waste management to describe waste types that are too large to be accepted by the regular waste collection. The first town hall in Brentwood was a neoclassical structure in the High Street, featuring a full-height portico with Corinthian order columns supporting an entablature with a project clock and a pediment; it was completed in 1864. The local council of the parish is West Horndon Parish Council. The parish council had existed before, from 1894 to 1934. The civil parish was created anew in 2003 following a petition by residents in 2002. It forms part of the Herongate, Ingrave and West Horndon ward for elections to Brentwood Borough Council.
