VU's campus in Vincennes is a residential campus on the banks of the Wabash River. Other VU sites include a campus in Jasper, Indiana, the Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics in Fort Branch, Indiana, along with centers for Aviation, Logistics, Advanced Manufacturing, and American Sign Language, in the Indianapolis area.
Additionally, Indiana is home to three public university systems: Indiana University, the Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana, and the Purdue University System. This list does not include non-independent branch campuses such as Purdue University in Indianapolis or Vincennes University's Jasper campus.
Also located in Jasper are Southern Indiana Education Center, Jasper Engines and Transmissions, and a satellite campus of Vincennes University. Vincennes University was established in 1801 as Jefferson Academy. It is the oldest college of higher learning in Indiana. Purdue Polytechnic Institute maintains a satellite campus in Vincennes in a partnership with Vincennes University.

In 1999, Ivy Tech entered into a partnership with Vincennes University to form the Community College of Indiana. The partnership ended in 2005 and Ivy Tech was re-chartered as a system of community colleges and renamed Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana.
