In 2009, The Varsity Football Team went 11-1 and the Rams won the Eastern Maine Championship. In 2007, Bangor High School earned state championships (Class A) in boys soccer, boys basketball, boys indoor track, boys swimming and diving, girls swimming and diving, and boys outdoor track.
The golf team, girls' basketball, indoor track and soccer teams won the state championships in 2010. The boys' ice hockey team won the Western Maine title in 2010 and the wrestling team has also had 6 state champions since 1995. Rick Clark, the girls' basketball head coach, was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Lewiston competes in Maine's Class A division for sports, the highest class in the state (except for basketball, which competes in AA), as governed by the Maine Principals' Association. Lewiston is also a member of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference. The school is particularly known for its cheerleading and boys soccer teams.
