MediaWiki stores rendered formulas in a cache so that the images of those formulas do not need to be created each time the page is opened by a user. To force the rerendering of all formulas of a page, you must open it with the getter variables action=purge&mathpurge=true. There is at least one OCR tool that can convert a handwritten formula to Latex and other formats. Mathpix allows 10 snips a month free. I don't know enough to edit the body of the Help page (I've not yet used Mathpix so don't know how good it is, and how compatible with Wikipedia, and don't know what else is out there), but I think there should be a Tools section with this sort of information.

A solution which makes the reason for the different brackets around an interval more plain is to use one of the templates {{open-closed}}, {{closed-open}}, {}, {{closed-closed}}. For instance: {{open-closed | −π, π}} produces (−π, π].
However, Square brackets, as in = 3, are sometimes used to denote the floor function, which rounds a real number down to the next integer.
