La Grande (/ l ə ˈ ɡ r æ n d /) is a city in Union County, Oregon, United States. La Grande is Union County's largest city, with a population of 13,082 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census. The La Grande metro population is 25,076. It is the 16th largest metropolitan area in Oregon.
It is a rural locale in the Central Oregon Coast Range north of the Siuslaw River and south of the Alsea River along one of its tributaries, Five Rivers. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Paris is located at 44°15′09″N 123°46′14″W / 44.25250°N 123.77056°W / 44.25250; -123.

La Grande was named the county seat when Union County was created in 1865. [9] Due to the Thomas and Ruckle Road going through Union, it elected the county seat in 1872, but when the railroad was built it was put through La Grande instead of Union. La Grande became the bigger town within the county and regained the county seat in 1902. [9] J. W.
