Cumberland Mountain State Park is a state park in Cumberland County, Tennessee, in the southeastern United States. The park consists of 1,720 acres (7.0 km 2 ) situated around Byrd Lake, a man-made lake created by the impoundment of Byrd Creek in the 1930s.
House Mountain is a mountain located in Corryton, Tennessee, United States, about 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Knoxville. [2] Rising to an elevation of 2,064 feet (629 m) above sea level, House Mountain is the highest point in Knox County .
The land remained unexplored by European settlers until 1761. At this time, a long hunting expedition led by Elisha Walden explored much of the Clinch and Powell River valleys. However, settlement in the area did not begin in earnest until the 1790s, and growth remained slow. In 1826, Richard Oliver became the town's first postmaster.
