The name "Grosse Pointe" derives from the size of the area, and its projection into Lake St. Clair. [2] Grosse Pointe is a suburban area in Metro Detroit, sharing a border with northeast Detroit's historic neighborhoods. Grosse Pointe has many famous historic estates along with remodeled homes and newer construction.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.29 square miles (3.34 km 2), of which, 1.19 square miles (3.08 km 2) is land and 0.10 square miles (0.26 km 2) is water.
In some areas, homes are configured in a traditionally urban, close-together fashion, while other nearby blocks may offer yards up to 150 feet (46 m) wide. Home sizes and styles vary widely, from 1,500 to 12,000 square feet (140 to 1,110 m 2 ), but slightly under 3,000 square feet (280 m 2 ) on average.
Coulee City was commonly known as McEntee’s Crossing of the Grand Coulee in the 19th century. In 1881, Philip McEntee, after helping a group of surveyors trying to lay down a road, built the first log cabin around Coulee City. Other important pioneers soon followed in the following years. [4] The town was named after nearby Grand Coulee. [5]
Grand Coulee is a large coulee on the Columbia River Plateau.This area has underlying granite bedrock, formed deep in the Earth's crust 40 to 60 million years ago. The land periodically uplifted and subsided over millions of years giving rise to some small mountains and, eventually, an inland sea.
In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Grand Coulee had a population of 606 living in 202 of its 209 total private dwellings, a change of -6.6% from its 2016 population of 649. With a land area of 1.74 km 2 (0.67 sq mi), it had a population density of 348.3/km 2 (902.0/sq mi) in 2021. [10]
The grounds include the frontage on Ford's Cove, the total Lake St. Clair waterfront of the property is 3,100 feet (985 m). The house currently hosts special events, classes and lectures. The estate is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [19] [20]
