In the 2021-2022 school year, Boerne ISD received a rating of 'A' from the Texas Education Agency on its A-F scale. The district also received ‘A’ ratings in the 2017-2018 and 2018-19 school years; the TEA did not rate school districts in the 2019-2020 or 2020-21 school year due to the pandemic.

The school is named after Samuel V. Champion (1954 - 2007), who was a longtime Boerne resident and principal of Boerne High School for many years. He also taught and coached at BHS, and was a member of Boerne High School's graduating class of 1972. In 2017, the school was expanded, adding several new classrooms and adjusting the parking lot.
The school serves Kendall County and the surrounding areas of IH-10 such as, Cordillera Ranch, Bergheim and Sisterdale. Since the opening of Boerne Samuel V. Champion High School, all students living north of HW-46 attend BHS, while all students living south of HW-46 attend CHS. Boerne is known for its academics and athletics. [citation needed]
East Bernard Independent School District (EBISD) is a public school district based in East Bernard, Texas, United States. The district serves the City of East Bernard and the unincorporated area of Bonus. EBISD served Bonus since 1973.
