Railfest is the name given to occasional railway festivals at the National Railway Museum in York, England. There was a Railfest in 2004, and another in 2012. The 2012 event was sponsored by EMAP magazines Rail, Steam Railway and Model Rail. [5] [6] [7]
SteamRanger took delivery of ex-Limestone Coast Railway railcars 334, 405, and 424 in 2014, as well as trailer 820 which was damaged by fire as a result of an arson attack, destroying everything but the frame and bogies. [24] 820 has since been delivered to Strathalbyn where it remains stored.
Railcars 8 (55) and 41 (75) are at the National Railway Museum, Port Adelaide, 106 (75) and trailer car 305 are at the Pichi Richi Railway in operational condition. The SteamRanger Heritage Railway is an 82 kilometres (51 miles) long 1600 mm (5 ft 3 in) broad gauge tourist railway, formerly the Victor Harbor railway line of the South Australian Railways (SAR). It is operated by the not-for-profit South Australian Division of the Australian Railway Historical Society .
The 2000 and 2100 class were self-propelled diesel railcars operated by the State Transport Authority and its successors on the Adelaide rail network.The body shell design was based on the Budd SPV-2000, Metroliner and Amfleet cars but the 2000 class railcars have a slightly different curve to the Amfleet.
It conducts annual RailFest events (some times designated "Steamfest" if locomotives are active) at the Bassendean museum. In the past the society conducted extensive rail tours - especially in the late 1960s in the final years of steam operation in Western Australia.
It carried the same BR Lined Black Livery again on 17 April 2012 for another photographic charter, this time though with the later "ferret and dartboard" crest. It returned to "Bluebell Black" in time for its visit to the National Railway Museum's "Railfest" in the first week of June 2012. [2]
