Newfound Area School District, sometimes referred to as School Administrative Unit 4 (SAU 4), is a cooperative school district comprising seven towns and spanning three counties in New Hampshire. Headquartered in Bristol , the district also includes the towns of Alexandria , Bridgewater , Danbury , Groton , Hebron , and New Hampton .
Construction was completed in under a year. At the time, the theatre was dubbed as "the only first-class theatre in New Hampshire that was fireproof and air-conditioned." (The air-conditioning was provided by fans which blew air over large blocks of ice under the stage.) The Palace Theatre opened on April 9, 1915.
The theater is located within a historic brick building built in 1833 in an area that has since become Prescott Park. [2] [3] It was once a building of the Portsmouth Marine Railway Company, [4] and was listed on the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places in 2006. [5]
