Edit-tricks are most useful when multiple tables must be changed, then the time needed to develop complex edit-patterns can be applied to each table. For each table, insert an alpha-prefix on each column (making each row-token "|-" to sort as column zero, like prefix "Row124col00"), then sort into a new file, and then de-prefix the column entries.
For simple tables, this can be done via the "transpose rows and columns" function of Copy & Paste Excel-to-Wiki, or via the "transpose" feature of a third-party spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel, the free web-based Google Sheets, or the free downloadable software LibreOffice Calc.
Tables can only be sorted vertically by clicking on the column headers (topmost cells). When a column header is clicked, the rows of the table reorder themselves in an up-and-down manner, based on the values in that column. However, there is no functionality to sort columns horizontally by clicking on a cell in the leftmost row.
