The .300 AAC Blackout (designated as the 300 BLK by the SAAMI [1] and 300 AAC Blackout by the C.I.P. [2]), also known as 7.62×35 mm, is an intermediate cartridge developed in the United States by Advanced Armament Corporation (AAC) for use in the M4 carbine.
Some alternative cartridges like the 300 AAC Blackout (7.62×35mm) focus on penetration and stopping power at short ranges by sacrificing long-distance performance. These calibers are designed to be interoperable with the 5.56 by maintaining similar dimensions, which allows them to be used in a 5.56-chambered rifle with a simple barrel change.
