Chatsworth is the hub of a 35,000-acre (14,000 ha) agricultural estate. This, together with 30,000 acres (12,000 ha) around Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire (mostly moorland) and some land in Eastbourne and Carlisle belongs to The Trustees of Chatsworth Settlement, a family trust established in 1946.
