Franklin G. Burroughs (December 28, 1834, Martin County, North Carolina – 1897) was an American turpentine and naval entrepreneur who, along with Benjamin Grier Collins, founded the Burroughs and Collins company, later known as Burroughs and Chapin.
Chapin, popularly known as the "Capital of Lake Murray", is a small lake town located at the northern tip of Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. Chapin was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Emory David and Marietta Armour Chapin. In 1878, he attended Harvard School for Boys in Chicago. In 1883, he began work at Armour and Company in Chicago. In 1892, he began his own business as a banker and broker in Chicago and in the same year married Elizabeth Mattocks.
