NATO Accessory Rail (STANAG 4694) The NATO Accessory Rail (NAR), defined by NATO Standardization Agreement (STANAG) 4694, is a rail interface system standard for mounting accessory equipment such as telescopic sights, tactical lights, laser aiming modules, night vision devices, reflex sights, foregrips, bipods and bayonets to small arms such as rifles and pistols.
It is similar in concept to the earlier commercial Weaver rail mount used to mount telescopic sights, but is taller and has wider slots at regular intervals along the entire length. The MIL-STD-1913 locking slot width is 0.206 in (5.23 mm). The spacing of slot centres is 0.394 in (10.01 mm) and the slot depth is 0.118 in (3.00 mm). [8]
A rail system mounted on top of a SIG SG 550 A dovetail rail on a rifle receiver for mounting a sight. A rail integration system (RIS; also called a rail accessory system (RAS), rail interface system, rail system, mount, base, gun rail, or simply a rail [1]) is a generic term for any standardized attachment system for mounting firearm accessories via bar-like straight brackets (i.e. "rails ...
A prototype of the MOE slot was revealed by Magpul in late 2007 together with their Masada Concept Rifle (which would later be known as the Adaptive Combat Rifle).Magpul released the MOE slot system in 2008 as a feature on their MOE handguards, and at the same time compatible accessories such as Picatinny rail sections, direct MOE mounted light mounts, grips, bipod studs, etc. were released.
The mount can be made integral to the scope body (such as the Zeiss rail) or, more commonly, an external fitting that clamp onto the scope tube via screw-tightened rings (similar to pipe shoes). The scope and mount are then fastened onto compatible interfaces on the weapon. Words such as mounts and bases are used somewhat loosely, and can refer ...
The Picatinny rail has a similar profile to the Weaver, but the recoil groove width of the Picatinny rail is 0.206 in (5.23 mm) versus 0.180 in (4.57 mm) of the Weaver rail/mount, and by contrast with the Weaver, the spacing of the Picatinny recoil groove centers is consistent, at 0.394 in (10.01 mm). The SIG Sauer 200 STR has an 11 mm dovetail on the receiver for mounting a diopter rear sight or a scope sight, either directly or via a Picatinny rail adapter.. Dovetails come in several different types and sizes depending on manufacturer, but the most common are the 11 mm and 3 ⁄ 8 inch (9.5 mm).
This allows it to stay zeroed for a longer period of time when mounting red-dot, reflex sights or other optics. [11] Negev NG-7 with a MEPRO MOR sight/laser combo [12] [13] The classic Negev did not possess the modern standardized Picatinny rail, and instead came with a welded adapter for an optical sight. The newer NG-5 and NG-7 have a ...
