Photo of Juventino Rosas, in 1890. Rosas was born in Santa Cruz, Guanajuato, later renamed Santa Cruz de Galeana, Guanajuato, and still later into Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas. [1] Rosas began his musical career as a street musician, playing with dance music bands in Mexico City.
The waltz "Sobre las olas" ("Over the Waves") is the best-known work of Mexican composer Juventino Rosas (1868–1894), who first published it in 1888. The boundaries of the colonia are formed by the following streets: Juventino Rosas to the south, Avenida Río Consulado to the north, Calzada de Guadalupe to the east and Avenida Insurgentes Norte to the west. [2] It has been a poor area since early colonial times. [3]

It is bordered to the north by Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, to the east by Celaya, to the south by Cortazar, and to the west by Salamanca. The municipality had a population of 45,941 according to the 2005 census.
