The 23-acre (9.3 ha) hotel, which opened on March 10, 1983, is among the ten resorts that make up the Disney Springs Resort Area. It is one of seven resorts in the Disney Springs Resort Area not owned or operated by Disney. The renovation remodeled the guest rooms in the Magnolia Wing, doubled the number of guest rooms, added ten family suites, additional dining options, 7,500 sq ft (700 m 2) of meeting facilities, a fitness center, and a multi-level, 500-space parking garage. The guest rooms are in the resort's two wings, the Magnolia Wing and the Palm Wing.
The hotel opened on February 8, 1973, as Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge, later the Howard Johnson at Walt Disney World Village. The hotel was expanded in 1978. [ 1 ] It was bought by Marriott Hotels in 1994 and became the Courtyard by Marriott at Walt Disney World Village on January 20, 1995.
