General Greene Hotel, also known as the Hotel Rappe and Greensburger Hotel, was a historic hotel located at Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1903. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on June 16, 1980. It was delisted in 1988, after being demolished in 1984. [1] [2]
Greensburg is a city in and the county seat of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. [5] The population was 14,976 at the 2020 census.Located 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Pittsburgh, Greensburg is a part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

Prior to the development of Westmoreland Mall, the immediate area surrounding the site, known as Miller's Woods, was a mixture of open fields and wooded land.Miller's Woods served as a popular campsite during the infancy of the Lincoln Highway which saw the likes of Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone and John Burroughs camping on the site.
Greengate Centre East is a 71,576-square-foot (6,649.6 m 2) strip shopping center adjacent to Greengate Centre.It was built in the early 1980s. It was originally anchored by a Giant Eagle supermarket, which moved less than a mile west to the Hempfield Square development in 1997.
